Louise Penny 2008: Chief Inspector Armand Gamache/Three Pines Series #4

Readers are invited into the deeply disturbing backstory of two ‘regulars’ who live in Three Pines: artists Peter Morrow and his wife Clara. That backstory includes one of the most thoroughly unredeemable characters I have ever encountered, and Peter’s weaknesses are exposed in the process.

Additionally, Ms. Penny offers us a deeper exploration of Armand Gamache’s childhood and his relationships with both his father and his son. She is the master of the slow tease, and you will not want to put this book down until you reach the end.

This is narrated by the excellent Ralph Cosham.
