Monica Ferris – Needlecraft Mysteries #3

Betsy Devonshire identifies the killer again! But so did I, about 30 pages into the book, so three stars is as high as it goes. It’s still an enjoyable listen though, and worth listening or reading if you want to finish the series. There’s some information about attributes associated with Christian saints that might prompt you to do some research on your own – think about St. Patrick’s association with a shamrock, for example.

I listened to the audiobook, which is included free in Audible Plus memberships. Most of the series is similarly available, except for two in the middle, which is frustrating for those of us who want to plow through the whole series.

A Stitch in Time is narrated by Susan Boyce, who has, by now, become the voice of Betsy Devonshire for me. My hope is that at some point in the series, Boyce will have learned what an actual Minnesota accent sounds like, so her rural characters don’t all sound like they’re from Kansas, but her Betsy voice is authentic and relatable.

Did you read this cozy mystery? Did you figure out who the killer was? What page were you on when you got it? Leave a comment.
