Debbie Macomber, 2011

Bethanne takes a road trip with her daughter Annie and her mother-in-law Ruth, meeting biker Max along the way. Will she choose Max, ex-husband Grant who cheated on her years ago and now wants her back, or neither? If you’ve read any Debbie Macomber at all you know the answer to this question.

Debbie Macomber romances are low-effort and contain minimal conflict; reading her books is like watching reruns of The Brady Bunch. Her characters are almost exclusively Caucasion, straight, and conveniently financially well- off. (After all, some of her books have been made into Hallmark movies.) I have not read any of her newer books, but her brand and audience are well-established so I doubt if that’s changed substantially.

This book is nominally part of the Blossom (or Blossom Street) series, which is centered around a yarn shop in Washington State, but the only real clue to the series is that Bethanne frequently knits, and there are some mentions of other characters from the series. This is definitely a standalone novel.

Macomber fans will not be disappointed by this installment. It checks all the Macomber boxes.
