Martin Cruz Smith, born on this day in 1942, is an American mystery author. He wrote Gorky Park, the first of the Arkady Renko books; I haven’t read any of the books but will definitely add them to my list. I’ve been looking for something comparable to Olin Steinhauer’s Ruthenia Quintet which also takes place in the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe.
Mr. Smith has an easily navigated website; take a look. I think my winter reading plan is going to include Gorky Park.
For those who are wondering about the answer to yesterday’s trivia question – the answer is Agatha Christie, whose books have sold over 4 billion copies according to a fun site called timeanddate.com. Another trivia question will be posted soon.
Agatha Christie was not my guess but makes perfect sense.
Yes, especially when you consider how long her books have been in print.
