I’ll be spending this rainy Sunday reading a good book. What will you read today?
For weeks now I’ve been focusing on high fantasy in my reading and listening. I already own some of the books; if not, I source them from the library or used bookstores, and sometimes (very infrequently) I buy them new.
Until now, my only brick and mortar used book source has been Schuler Books, and if they don’t have the title I order the used book from one of the (excellent) internet sellers. This week though, I discovered a used bookstore less than twenty miles from me, Holland Book Mart. My husband and I visited yesterday.
Their website states that they sell and trade quality literature – and they aren’t lying. My nightstand now includes a stack of mass market paperbacks including the first two books in David Farland’s Runelords series, the first two books in the first cycle of Stephen R. Donaldson’s Thomas Covenant Chronicles, and the ENTIRE Second Chronicles of Thomas Covenant. I found all of these titles in a storefront the size of my family room. We left with a grocery bag full of exactly what I’d been chasing, plus a hardcover and a couple of trade paperbacks for my husband, for $41.
