Nightstand

Every so often I post what I’m reading and what’s waiting for me on the nightstand . . . .

Stack of books and eyeglasses

Right now I’m reading The Ten Thousand Doors of January by Alix E. Harrow, in preparation for the virtual book discussion I’m hosting on Hello Revel.  Once I’ve held that book talk I will add the questions to this site.

What’s next? Well, I’m doing a little personal study of Phil Rickman’s standalone novels. I’ve just finished December, which has some of the same characters as The Man in the Moss.  December raised a lot of questions, so I’m re-reading (or re-listening to) Moss.  While trying to figure out what’s what with these two books, I found the Phil Rickman Appreciation Society group on Facebook.  I’m pretty excited to see what goes on in their group; these are people in the know.  I also ordered a copy of Merrily’s Border: The Marches Share Their Secrets to use a a reference as I read all of Rickman’s work. It’s shipping from the UK and should arrive the first week in February.

Simultaneously, I hope to be reading Prairie Fires: The American Dreams of Laura Ingalls Wilder – arguably the first biography that doesn’t cover up Wilder family problems and issues.  This will come after January.  I honestly can’t wait to read this, and it’s challenging not to start right now! I would do that if not for the book discussion.

What are you reading?
