Well, this is timely.
The Last Hours is a novel set in 14th Century England as the Black Death (plague) first makes itself known. Conditions include self-imposed quarantine, supply shortages, and suspicion of others.
I read this when COVID-19 was just background noise – the time I refer to as Before. The story was entertaining, with a couple of very evil characters, and was also somewhat predictable. I enjoy historical fiction in this time period, so I expected that I would want to continue the series (which is only two books long at this writing), but when I finished I found I had spent all the time I wanted with these characters. The book is not amazing, but it passed the time.
I checked this out from my local library and I bet you can find it at yours.
