Elizabeth Peters – Book 2 of the Jacqueline Kirby Mysteries
This book has a novel premise (get it?) but there was little enticement to follow the convoluted relationhips of the characters, referenced by both their real and their “pretend” names. All were all in costume, playing characters in the historic event in which Richard III purportedly murdered two young princes. The story wasn’t worth the mental investment.
I’m still giving it 3 stars though; I love an authentic midcentury read (which this barely was, being published in 1974), and Grace Conlon narrates perfectly.
This book won a Grand Master Award.
